Finding suitable host companies for VET students is one of the most important responsibilities in an Erasmus+ mobility project. The quality of a placement depends not only on the company’s sector, but also on the tasks available, workplace environment, supervision and compatibility with the student’s profile.
At Europuente, the matching process begins with the learning needs of each participant. Here is how we assess potential placements and prepare companies to welcome European trainees.
We Start With the Student Profile
Before contacting or confirming a company, we review the student’s CV, field of study, technical skills, previous experience, language level and learning objectives. We also consider the participant’s age, independence and any relevant support requirements.
Detailed profiles allow us to look beyond a general course title. Two students studying IT, for example, may need very different placements if one focuses on hardware and networks while the other is interested in programming.
The Company Must Match the Professional Field
The organisation’s activity should be relevant to the student’s vocational education. We consider whether its daily work can provide meaningful exposure to the profession and whether appropriate tasks are available during the mobility dates.
A recognised company name is not enough. The placement must offer a realistic learning environment connected to the participant’s training.
We Review the Proposed Tasks
Before the internship begins, the expected tasks and working conditions should be clear. Activities must be suitable for a trainee and consistent with the student’s knowledge and objectives.
Tasks may evolve as the company becomes familiar with the participant’s abilities, but the initial plan establishes a useful starting point. Students should have opportunities to observe, practise, ask questions and gradually take on appropriate responsibilities.
Supervision Is Essential
Every host company should identify a tutor or responsible colleague who can welcome the student, explain procedures and provide feedback. Good supervision helps participants understand what is expected and gives them someone to approach when they need clarification.
The company tutor also communicates with Europuente during the mobility, allowing us to monitor attendance, adaptation and progress.
We Explain the Erasmus+ Context
Some companies have extensive experience with international trainees, while others may be participating for the first time. In either case, they need to understand that the placement is an educational mobility with defined learning goals.
We explain the student’s background, the expected duration, monitoring arrangements and documentation. Clear communication prevents misunderstandings and helps the company prepare for the participant’s arrival.
Matching Includes Practical Considerations
A professionally suitable placement must also be practical. We consider working hours, location, transport, language needs and compatibility with the overall programme.
If daily travel is required, students receive clear route information. Any relevant dress code, equipment or workplace conditions should also be communicated before the first day.
Monitoring Continues After Placement
Company selection does not end when the internship is confirmed. Europuente follows up with the student and workplace tutor throughout the stay.
If a concern arises, we first clarify the situation with the people involved. Tasks may be adjusted, expectations explained or extra support provided. A placement change may be considered when there is a justified issue that cannot be resolved appropriately.
A Network Built Through Experience
Maintaining relationships with local organisations helps us understand which environments are suitable for different participant profiles. Feedback from students, teachers and company tutors informs future matching decisions and quality improvements.
Europuente works across multiple professional fields in Granada and Seville, but every confirmation remains subject to the student’s profile, dates and the availability of a genuinely appropriate placement.
